Slow Food Orlando events are one of the best ways we know to build awareness, connect with our community of co-producers, seize educational opportunities, and celebrate the pleasures of the table. Our events range from pot lucks and happy hours to gardening classes and farm tours. We partner with other local organizations, farmers, chefs, and co-producers to bring a variety of activities to the community. Do you have an event idea you would like to suggest? Wine & Cheese Tasting - July 14th, 6-7 p.m.
The Audubon Park Garden District is once again celebrating the French Revolution with live music, French food, a wine and cheese tasting, a French-themed pet costume contest, fencing demonstrations, and an open air market. This annual celebration gives the French holiday a local, Audubon Park twist, featuring local businesses and artists. From 6 to 7, the District is hosting its inaugural Garden Party Wine and Cheese Tasting. Hosted by wine expert Jeremy Byrd and cheese expert Carol Overstreet, this educational event will take place in the Garden Courtyard of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Timed to coincide with Orlando’s Fourth Annual Bastille Day Festival, this event will pair handpicked French wines, along with their American counterparts, with select artisan cheeses, both French and American. Advance tickets are $25, and Day-of tickets are $35; but current Slow Food Orlando members get a discounted price of $22
. If you are a current member and would like to secure your space, please contact Gabby Othon Lothrop (firstname.lastname@example.org) to make a reservation. To purchase advance tickets at the regular price, click the button. Buy Tickets
Visit our Booth at Bacon-Off - Sunday, June 17th, 12-4 p.m.
On this Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17, 2012, the Big Wheel Truck and the C&S Brisket Bus, Orlando’s award winning food trucks, will place their house cured and house smoked bacon head to head for guests to choose the best bacon. As a first event of it’s kind in Orlando, the $30 ticket price includes a bacon sampler plate from each truck, with tastes of bacon in 5 different categories; guests will vote on their favorite, and the winner of each category receives bacon bragging rights.
