Slow Food is an international grassroots membership organization promoting good, clean and fair food for all. Slow Food stands at the crossroads of ecology and gastronomy, ethics and pleasure. We believe that everyone has a fundamental right to the pleasure of good food and consequently the responsibility to protect the heritage of food, tradition and culture that make this pleasure possible. Our association believes in the concept of neo-gastronomy – recognition of the strong connections between plate, planet, people and culture.
Through local projects, educational events and campaigns in 150 countries, Slow Food volunteers are promoting environmentally friendly food production, teaching children how to grow and prepare their food, and working to make real food accessible to all. Here in Central Florida, you are contributing to the movement just by attending our events and growing your awareness. We’re thankful for anyone who joins us in celebrating food as a cornerstone of culture and community. But if you’d like to do more, there are a number of ways to get involved.
Slow Food USA oversees activities in the US, including nationally-run programs that support and promote 225 local chapters that carry out the Slow Food mission in their communities. Chapters offer educational events and activities to promote sustainability and biodiversity that connect farmers, cooks, educators, workers and everyone else who cares about food and the environment.
